Really… Really… Seriously…

Great news (at least for me)…

I suppose that since I’ve been gone for a few weeks (well okay, two weeks), I should probably start with some self disclosure.  Don’t worry, I’m not going to tell you about my deep dark secrets or about the pact I made when I was in fourth grade…   This is something far more innocent.

I grew up in North Carolina.  Okay, I actually lived all across the nation, but I spent the majority of my life living in the Tar Heel state.  Now, with that being said, I point out that it’s March, when a young sports fan’s thoughts turn to March Madness!  My next piece of disclosure is that I am a dyed in the wool Carolina fan (and that also means that I hate Duke).  Or to put it another way, I’m a Tar Heel born, I’m a Tar Heel bred, and when I die, I’m a Tar Heal dead!

So, right now, dear reader, I can hear you asking yourself, “Why did he tell me these things?”  And, that is a legitimate question.  For those of you who aren’t regular (hahaha) readers, I will fill you in a little.  I’m a guy in my 30s, living in Memphis, Tennessee.  Well, if you’ve looked at an brackets, listened to any talking heads, etc. you can’t help but hear that the city (and nation) is obsessed with the University of Memphis Tigers!  They are a common pick for the final four, and with a national championship appearance last year, it’s not so unbelievable.

So, some times been the lone heard core Carolina fan can some times be tough, but the two teams have not squared off.  The great thing for basketball in the city of Memphis is the FedEx Forum.  Seriously, if you haven’t seen it, go there.  Watch a game, hear a concert, it doesn’t matter because it’s a great facility.

It is so great that the NCAA picked the FedEx Forum to be the host site for the South regions games for the Sweet Sixteen and Elite Eight.  I can hear the gears grinding as you think about all of this….

That’s right, the University of North Carolina Tar Heels are the number one seat in the South region.  Since there are so many expectations to when the whole tournament, it’s not a long stretch to think about them playing in the Sweet 16 and Elite 8.  All of this fantastic basketball in my own backyard.

Wouldn’t it be great if I could just get tickets to go see the games?  What?!?  What’s that, yes, I do have tickets to go to both games!!!!   Not only that but they were given to me free, which makes them my favorite kind.  Okay for full disclosure, my wife was really the one who made the deal happen, and I am eternally grateful to her for having the connections.  I should mention that they are great seat in one of the 100 sections.

I’m pumped!  So, I’ll report back on all of the excitement afterwards.  I’ll try to get some pictures up.  I know, shocking, I really don’t do pictures.  Well, dear reader, for you I will.
